Aimee Cook, a dynamic and results-oriented teacher from Somerset Canyons High School, recently invited BBEX Marketing to speak at her Business Entrepreneurial Program class on November 7th, 2014. BBEX Project Manager and President, Nate Aloni, gave insight on businesses within the tech industry and inspired students to think about their future in business technology within the SEO Presentation.
He began by providing an overview of what web traffic is and how owning a website is essential in the 21st century. He explained the olden days predating search engines, when people had to rely on a big, yellow book full of company directories. This was the only way to find a business’s contact information. Nowadays, when someone wants to look up a business, they boot up their computers and search online. Of course, not just any search engine will do, Google is the big name synonymous with search these days.
It’s so common that now “Googling” has become an acceptable verb for web search. Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary describes “Googling” accurately, “to use the Google search engine to obtain information about (as a person) on the World Wide Web.”
Mr. Aloni urged them that anything in the computer and technology fields will open many doors for high-paying employment opportunities. He also emphasized that technology is becoming more and more integrated into the business model, with coworkers often opting to email each other to ask a question, rather than coming over to each other’s cubicle and engaging in the real world.
Mr. Aloni shared some business wisdom that could only come from life experience. For example, he encouraged the class to stay in school and complete their education because it will pay off. The BBEX Project Manager also spoke about his own educational history, having earned a major and master’s in computer science from FAU, and how that program has served him. It opened his ability to analyze critically and he also gained extensive knowledge into computers and technology. This came in handy when conducting his own search engine optimization, where a deep knowledge of computer basics was necessary.
At the end of the presentation, some students were extremely motivated to begin their career in technology and business. One student, a girl of fifteen, offered to work for BBEX Marketing. Mr. Aloni was very impressed with her enthusiasm and encouraged her to apply in a couple of years. Overall, the students seemed very motivated, and more members of Ms. Cook’s business class spoke to Mr. Aloni afterward to request lessons in online marketing. Needless to say, Nate was very pleased with the outcome and thought it was a very rewarding experience. We at BBEX would like to thank Ms. Aimee Cook for having us carry on the SEO Presentation in her class and allowing us to offer a piece of wisdom to her bright, wonderful students.
Lastly, Mr. Aloni announced that one lucky winner in the class could receive $100 for participating in the BBEX Ninja Challenge Facebook contest. There was a set of ten social media tasks that could create more entries per student for more probabilities of winning. All of the tasks represented steps that a professional online marketer would take to market their own clients online: from “checking in” at a company’s Yelp page to liking a Facebook page and posting a social media status update. Ms. Cook’s class was thrilled and several students took on the challenge. One lucky winner will be announced in the upcoming weeks, and the Visa Gift Card will be on its merry way! Stay tuned.
You can barely see my face! Ha LOL!
That was a great photo though!
What a great experience. It sounds like the kids got a really good taste of what it’s like to go into business related fields. The world is certainly changing; I remember the big business directory books. Google is easier. I think the most telling thing is when he pointed out that people text or email each other rather than walk across the room and talk. Not necessarily a good thing.
This is a great service that bbex provides.
