If you use Chrome as a browser, you can download the Grammarly app and receive instant spelling and grammar suggestions when you are writing online – for example, when you are writing a comment, post or email.
- • Draft – Draft is a web application that embraces writing collaboration and version control. This means that you can receive feedback from peers and editors and afterward, go through their changes and choose to accept the edit. When someone collaborates with you their changes are not added to your draft, allowing you to review edits line by line so you can choose what you would like to keep. Draft also offers Hemingway Mode, a feature you can use that encourages a “write first, edit later” frame of mind that only allows you to write more. You must continue to write without being able to go back and edit your work. When you are done writing you can continue in normal mode.

Word Book provides you with the etymological information on words, and check your spelling with suggestions that pop up. You also get to use a thesaurus and link words together semantically, and you can manage bookmarks and your history.

Coffitivity provides writers who enjoy writing at Starbucks the background noise of a coffee shop. Its a useful app that can allow you to write more effectively or even overcome writer’s block.
- • If This Then That –OK, its not an app, but the web service “If This Then That” allows you to create “recipes” that can help new businesses and aspiring writers automate some of their efforts when it comes to promoting blogs with social media. For example, you can automatically send Pinterst Pins to Tumblr of WordPress, or set up an RSS feed to capture new content you would be interested in and could use as research material for your own writing.
